The Start of the Next Chapter

Welcome to the Miles of Curiosity Newsletter - a raw, minimally filtered view into the perspectives I explore what it means to me to live an intentional life.

Following the Heart’s Calling

Academic and professional achievements have always been a massive source of external and internal validation for me. I have believed my whole life that I would go through a traditional path of school to get a high-paying job in the engineering or business field. Well, after the thousands of hours of studying, internships, projects, anxiety, stress, and strife, I got to that end goal: the opportunity to work at a badass, high-powered startup as a robotics software engineer. I had wanted to work with them for years, and despite that, when listening closer to that quiet internal whisper, that yearn of truth and purpose, I felt called in a different direction.

I feel a deep resonance that now is my time for exploration: geographically, intuitionally, spiritually, professionally, and creatively. I find myself at a rare and extremely blessed intersection of freedom, resources, time, and possibility. I don’t have much of a plan of what that physically looks like. What I do have planned is following the hearts’ calling, even in the face of breaking the “norm.” I will accept massive amounts of uncertainty, a concept that has been monumentally challenging to me my entire life. I will steer towards to the pursuit of a purpose-driven, vivid, intentional life, emphasizing the environments, people, and uses of my time that fill my cup instead of draining it. Most importantly, I’m vowing to myself to follow that quiet inner voice that steers me to a path of deep spiritual resonance.

Desk jobs are awesome. Security is awesome. I certainly have nothing against them or those that choose that route. Naïveté, privilege, and overconfidence: all things that I am likely embodying as well. But hey- as long as I keep it between the lines, how badly can I really mess up my life at 23?

Thanks so much for reading and stay tuned for more to come.

Cheers,

Miles

What’s To Come

This week I graduated college, drove up to Seattle, and flew to New York to begin the first stages of my travels. I’m participating in Birthright, a 10 day immersion program in Israel sponsored by the Israeli government. From that launch point, I don’t have much of a plan! I’m trying to work on this whole “spontaneity thing.”

Following for more updates! I’m still feeling out the exact form this newsletter will take, but am excited to be sharing in this new modality.

6/22/23 - Departing to the first leg of my travels, Seattle -> NYC

I Want to Hear From You!

An aim I have for this newsletter is fostering community and connection. I would love to hear anything you resonate with, have questions about, or want to hear more of. The other thing I’d love is feedback- that is, I want yours. If you really connect with something, found it not engaging, too short, too long, etc, I want to hear it! This is a learning process for me, and any sort of response is highly welcomed.
